Fort Hamilton is currently the ONLY active Department of Defense installation protecting the City of New York.  Positioned on the banks of the Narrows in Bay Ridge Brooklyn, Fort Hamilton serves as the primary defense of New York Harbor and the rest of the city from any potential Naval Attack.

Today, it is the home of a U.S. Army Recruiting Battalion and the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPs) for New York City.  Hamilton also supports over 300 Reserve and National Guard units. As the only active Army post in the metropolitan area, the fort does work once performed by several installations. It now serves the region's large retired and reserve communities and headquarters one of the busiest of the Army's recruiting battalions.

The Fort Hamilton Citizen's Action Committee is a group of local citizens, military family members, and local elected and other governmental officials dedicated to preserving and protecting the fort and the brave men and women who live and serve there.
